Overview

Gardiner House is in a beautiful historic building in the heart of Dublin – a 200-year-old convent, complete with Victorian chapel, that we’ve converted into a warm, welcoming hostel. You’ll get a free breakfast, and there’s a kitchen with everything you need to cook your own meals and a garden where you can have a drink in the fresh air. We’re partnered with several tour groups, so we can offer you free or budget options to explore Dublin and the rest of Ireland.

Location

Our hostel is on Upper Gardiner Street, next to Mountjoy Square Park, and only a few minutes’ walk from O’Connell Street, Dublin’s main shopping street. Temple Bar and Trinity College are only about 20 minutes away by bus, and Croke Park, the city’s legendary stadium, is 10 minutes by foot. To reach us from Dublin Airport, hop on the 700 bus, which takes 30 minutes and stops just round the corner. We’re also only a 10-minute walk from Busáras central bus station and Connolly train station.

Rooms and Dorms

We’ve got mixed and female-only dorms, as well as a mix of private rooms. All beds come with power and USB sockets, under-bed lockers and free linen – and yes, we’ll even make your bed for you! If you want to make your stay with us even more special, go for our Chapel Experience: you’ll sleep in the stunning surroundings of the building’s original chapel, but with all the comfort of the other dorms, of course.

Extras and activities

Our welcoming staff know the best things to do in and around Dublin – they can offer advice and share their own go-to spots. If you feel like a night in instead, split your time between the comfortable TV room and the living room, where you can play pool, table football and board games, listen to music, use the free Wi-Fi or have a few drinks with your fellow travellers.
